THE VIETNAMESE Tanchau Bantam (TCB) CLUB

Reasons

Nowadays some of the Vietnamese ornamental chicken species are fade away, among that there is the ornamental (TCB) from Tan Chau island, An Giang province (refer to  TCB). We, some people who have been breed this TCB, are gathered voluntarily to a group named “Tan Chau Bantam Conservation Club” on the “An Giang TCB Club” belong to the ABV forum.

Objectives

To conserve and to uphold the TCB from Tan Chau island, An Giang province;

To breed and improve the species for the rare fowl , which has the Vietnamese specific characteristics are different from Thailand, Japanese, Malaysian, and Dutch… Bantam.

In addition, to breed other Vietnamese rare fowl;

To organize/to hold TCB beauty shows;

To gather comrades in Vietnam national while and oversea to conserve and to improve the Tan Chau Bantam;

The Tan Chau Bantam standards

It is difficult to establish the art standards of the Tan Chau Bantam. However our goal is to gather the indulgence and our belief on the future of the Tan Chau Bantam, our draft standards of Tan Chau Bantam based on below basis data:

1. General characteristics of the appearance based on the observation of TCB at Tan Chau, Long Xuyen, Phu Tan, Thoai Son, Chau Phu areas, An Giang province – where ornament TCB have been bred mainly for 8 years
2. Consultancy of the artisan who raise this TCB over 10 years in An Giang, mainly in Long Xuyen – the main place where the Tan Chau ornament TCB has been raised

The Tan Chau Bantam standards is

-          Open for the differently aesthesis tolerance of Vietnam TCB in general and An Giang – Sai Gon in particular.

-          Toward to TCB international standards

TAN CHAU BANTAM STANDARD

General information

Tan Chau Bantam is the small fowl from An Giang mountainous area. This TCB was domesticated by the local people in general and the Tan Chau people in particular. Tan Chau is the place to raise this TCB first, then the ornamental fowl circles in Long Xuyen and other areas in the An Giang province raised, bred and developed to have the present, thoroughbred TCB. Because this TCB has many different characteristics the An Giang ornamental TCB circles named Tan Chau to distinguish from other TCB.

In general, Tan Chau Bantam has the small, strong appearance, thick feather and waxed/polished; head, chest and tail is thin and long, overall feathering is long, the voice is echoless and short.

The adult cock weight is not over 900g; the hen is not over 600g.

The main breeding reason is ornamental fowl.
